when a pod of beluga whales came through Chevak and someone caught one? We went down to the river to see it, but this was all that remained.

We have set off on another adventure! For the next ten months (at least) we will be teaching in Chevak, Alaska. During this time, we'll use this site to document our experience and share what we see and learn.

Uh...what happened?? Why is it in pieces?
Because it's delicious, of course! Beluga is a favorite that the folks here don't get very often. Some of it was eaten raw next to the river, but most of it was parceled out to families in the village.
